Job Description This senior HSE leadership role is a back to back position on a 14/14 rotation. This position reports directly to the Director Health and Safety and leads a team of HSE coordinators, ERT and medical staff (employees & contractors) directly supporting all field operations within the Surmont region including but not limited to; production, drilling, completions, well servicing, seismic, ARO etc. This role is based at Surmont but will spend time as appropriate in the Calgary Head Office. This position is a 12-month Temp position. Responsibilities

A member of the Health & Safety Field Operations Leadership Team

Develop, plan and execute the initiatives necessary to meet the strategic objectives of the Manager, Health & Safety

Work without bias and collaboratively with peers on the HS Field Leadership team to plan, prioritize resources and achieve the team’s objectives

Be an active voice for the team’s priorities with the operations field leadership

A member of leadership for Surmont

Work as a strategic partner and team member as a member of Surmont field leadership

Demonstrate influence with the field leadership (production, maintenance, drilling, completions, well servicing and construction) members on HSE matters including but not limited too; safety and environmental culture, HRO, learning, planning and verifying that work is under control

Execution of Safety Support within the business unit

Responsible for the execution of the safety support plan in the field particularly HSE audit and incident response and investigation

Responsible for engaging the HSE integrate plan including sharing resources, lessons learned, chronic unease and plans for deliberate execution (i.e. planning for safety)

Responsible for engaging HSE technical support (i.e. risk, ER, IH etc.)

Responsible for engaging the HSE assurance, learning and regulatory staff when appropriate

Demonstrate the ability to build influence with field operations leadership beyond production operations including; well engineering operations (WEO), asset retirement and reclamation (ARO), facilities engineering and construction (FEC) and seismic

Partnership in delivering environmental support to operations

Partner with Environmental Operations leadership in supporting the day to day environmental aspects of the facility

Responsible for supporting HSE reporting to regulatory agencies, single point of contact for the Field Manager on all regulatory reporting including environment

Conduit for environmental matters to be raised and addressed with the Surmont Field Leadership Team

Provide day to day non-technical support for site environment staff and contractors

Execution of field level emergency response HSE support within the business unit

Partner with the staff accountable for supporting; risk, emergency response planning to deliver world class ER support for all field operations

Partner with operations to build, maintain and test safety defenses

Conduct Tier 2 and contractor audits in partnership with the Risk and Analytics Director and the Calgary HS Coordinator

Process Safety

Partner with asset and operating integrity to ensure appropriate defenses are in place to ensure that the facility operates safely

Build capacity of the team

Responsible for partnering with all HSE leadership including; HSE Manager Blueberry and Risk and Analytics Manager to develop staff and provide adequate support for planning and execution of work

Build capacity of our key contract partners

Build relationships with “key” contractors

Look for opportunities to engage and lead them on developing their HSE culture Qualifications: Required Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in Environmental Science or Engineering; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 12 years’ experience in oil and gas operations of which 5 years should be in a major field/facility operation.

Previous experience in a role related to HSE is required.

Strong commitment to HSE principles and the ability to work with leaders on change management.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions. Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is an asset

Ability to work well with all levels of the organization

Excellent verbal and written communication

Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Advanced communication, planning and organizational skills

This is a safety sensitive, rotational (14/14) site based position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the ConocoPhillips Canada substance abuse program and pre-employment health screening.
