Position Title: Mechanical Engineer


The primary purpose of this position is to provide discipline engineering support to UK operations to ensure equipment reliability and availability

Accountabilities and End Results:

  • Responsible for defining and monitoring equipment performance standards and initiating and ensuring corrective actions

  • Responsible for defining maintenance strategies, identifying obsolescence and identifying and developing improvements

  • Responsible for discipline engineering and maintenance support to UK operations

Primary Functions & Dimensions:

  • Engineering Team focal point for pumps and ancillary equipment

  • Provide support to Rotating Equipment TA for turbomachinery

  • Provide engineering support to TA and SME’s for valves, HVAC systems

  • Provide engineering support to TA for lifting and crane operations, including maintenance practices

  • Provide technical support to Operations teams when requested

  • Evaluate & optimise preventive maintenance plans/ programs for relevant equipment

  • Identify obsolescence to ensure cost effective operation and asset integrity

  • Provide OPEX and CAPEX budget input

  • Evaluate Technical Queries associated with equipment

  • Identify and develop improvement opportunities acting as project “champion” in Modification projects FEL 1 and 2 phases, and support FEL 3 and execution

  • Monitoring and evaluation of innovative developments and tools within scope

  • Responsible for equipment performance including spare part management and warranty follow up

  • Responsible for management of key contracts providing equipment support


  • Alignment & communication with Modification, Facilities and Operations teams

  • Support safe operation of installations of varying age

  • Ensure Asset Integrity and meet operating efficiency target

  • Balance opportunities for improved operations within budgets


Critical Skills:

Core Technical Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of pumps

  • Competent knowledge of valves and HVAC systems

  • Experience with lifting activities and practices

  • Significant operational and engineering experience

  • Fully conversant with UK regulatory environment

  • Offshore experience


  • Technical University degree (BSc or higher)

  • Significant industry experience
