Description

ConocoPhillips Canada is recruiting a Data Science and Data Integrator student to join the Data Management and Data Analytics teams. The successful student will have an opportunity to work within both teams throughout their term, which provides broad exposure to how Data is used in the business. This role is responsible for investigating, proposing, designing, and developing analytical solutions based on advanced machine learning and statistical techniques to reduce manual engineering calculations, and promote data-driven decision making.

Based out of the Calgary office, this position is a 12-16 month term, starting in May 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Design integration solutions to adhere to the data framework/environment as defined by the Data Architect

  • Mapping from one or more sources to a target requires documentation on the process, quality of the data, anticipated values and any other technical notes required for data integration projects

  • Comply with the organization’s data integration best practices and standards.

  • Manage the scheduling and support of data integration jobs; Analysis of defects/failures; Impact analysis of source changes.

  • Manage functional and integration testing of various data integrations and database components; document test cases/scenarios.

  • Collaborate with the business, its applications, solutions, Data Architect and with other data integrators and governance teams to understand the implications of respective architectures and to maximize the value of information across the organization.

  • Enable advanced analytics solutions within functions of the business unit consistent with ConocoPhillips global data analytics strategy

  • Champion advancement of data analytics and Data Science in Canada

  • Ensure analytics efforts are targeted at key improvement opportunities, and stakeholders / objectives are aligned to changing the way we do business

  • Deployment and sustainable model management of data science solutions

  • Ability to work individually or as part of integrated team to deliver data science solutions

  • Willingness to experiment with new data methods and analytics tool

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering or Applie Sciences

  • Program must involve Quantitative Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, and Mathematics.

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale

  • Must be returning to study at a post-secondary institution following work term

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Data Lakes

  • Proficient using Oracle, PL/SQL, Python, SWL Server

  • Proficient (ability to perform the skill with limited assistance) in Microsoft Products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Proficient with Data Warehousing concepts

  • Have a good understanding of cloud-hosted applications and hardware concepts

  • Have a good understanding of the concepts behind data management in relational databases, and data visualization
