Description
ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) is recruiting an Electrical Journeyman to join the Surmont team, located south of Fort McMurray, AB. Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, as Electrician for the plant, this role is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of all electrical maintenance and repairs for the facility and well pads. This role is an integral part of the team in developing maintenance plans, work procedures, and safe operating practices, and for the safe execution of the entire corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance tasks associated with the Surmont Site electrical systems.
This position will be a site-based role on a 14/14 rotation. Flights and company accommodation are provided.
Responsibilities
Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
Troubleshoot test and repair high and medium voltage industrial electrical equipment such as: motors, motor control centers and switchgear (LV & MV), UPS systems, VFD’s, distribution panels, lighting and controls, emergency generators, etc.
Maintain and operate Switchgear up to 25Kv. Experience working on protection relays and main-tie-main configurations.
Maintain and troubleshoot variable frequency drives.
Manage small project execution and documentation electrical schematics, layout drawings, and construction work packs.
Commissioning and project turnover.
Maintain electric heat tracing, and controls including PLC programming and programming vendor specific equipment. Interrogate alarms and rationalize, troubleshoot and repair of EHT circuits.
Ensure that all-working tools and equipment as necessary to carryout out safe electrical work are available and in good working condition.
Take primary responsibility for the timely certification of all high voltage tools such as gloves, blankets, hot sticks, etc.
Take primary responsibility for ensuring the correct type and amount of High Energy PPE is maintained at work sites as required by code.
Provide leadership and contribute to all HSE efforts in day-to-day activities.
Provide input to Planners/Schedulers in task list development for maintenance plans, items, and work orders.
Responsible for developing Electrical maintenance procedures (SSMP – Site Specific Maintenance Procedures)
Ensure that all Maintenance Workorder shop papers are fully and accurately completed to maintain SAP equipment and work plan records.
Provide input to ensure critical spares are available and stocking levels are correct.
Maximize production by leading and participating in RCFA’s to eliminate repeat failures.
Provide input for the development and continuous improvement of the Predictive/Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program.
Assist the E/I Supervisor in management of the Electrical Quality Management Program (QMP) including accurate and timely record keeping.
Participate in the On-line Network of Excellence (NoE) Turbo Machinery, Production Services & Optimization and Maintenance and Reliability providing support, questions and or suggestions.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5-10 years of Electrical maintenance experience, with valid inter-provincial journeyman certification.
Experience developing electrical maintenance procedures
Experience troubleshooting and repairing high and medium voltage industrial electrical equipment such as: motors, motor control centers and switchgear (LV & MV), UPS systems, VFD’s, distribution panels, lighting and controls, emergency generators, etc.
Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
5 – 10 years Oil &/or Gas field experience is desirable.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, utilizing strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to comply with a 14/14 rotational schedule, day shift and night shift.
