Job Description
ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) is currently recruiting a Calgary based Financial/Business Analyst, reporting to Supervisor, F&PA (Finance & Performance Analysis). This entry level position will have responsibilities for financial and operational reporting for Canada General & Administrative (G&A) and labour costs as well as supporting the development of budgets and forecasts. This role will also provide finance support for various functions within the business unit.
In addition, as a member of the Canada Finance function, this position offers significant opportunities to participate in cross functional efforts to enhance/streamline finance processes and affords future opportunities in function’s other departments.
Responsibilities:
Monthly Reporting:
G&A costs to managers throughout the Canada BU; presenting and responding to queries
Present monthly analysis to support corporate finance for both G&A and field labour costs
Support of Joint Venture reporting and analysis for Surmont labour and G&A costs
Journal Entries, including accruals and assessment maintenance
Ongoing support through out year:
Coordination of forecast and budget for Canada G&A costs and supporting BU finance teams for field labour costs
Coordination of cost and capital forecast and budget for various support functions
Coordination of annual time study allocation process throughout Canada BU
Involvement in annual At-Cost Audit and responses to internal, JV and external audit queries as required
Support of variable compensation process including analysis for reporting and entries required
AFE Management (approval, set-up, tracking, AUC, closure, etc.)
Other ad hoc G&A or labour cost items as required
Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of ongoing improvement efforts to streamline the Canadian financial processes
Qualifications:
Basic/Required Qualifications
Minimum Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects/priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with various teams
Quick learner; willingness to learn
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in the oil and gas finance teams through summer employment or coop work term
A desire to pursue to the CPA designation
Understanding of financial reporting, income statements, balance sheets
Strong analytical skills
Exposure or experience with SAP is an asset
