The Warehouse Supervisor is a key member of the Oil Sands Supply Chain Team supporting Surmont Operations and Maintenance. This position is responsible for all Surmont Warehousing staff, facilities and lay down yards. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance to the ConocoPhillips Canada Policies, processes and procedures that support Operations, Small Capital Projects, and Drilling and Completions. Reporting to the Director, SCM – Logistics, Materials Management & PRA, this position provides accountability for all inventory control and warehousing activities, while aligning with the Supply Chain Management Model strategy and compliance requirements.

This position is 14 days on, 14 days off located at our Surmont facility.


  • As a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Safety Leader, responsible for leading, managing and supporting the policies, goals, efforts, practices and programs of the (HSE) Management System

  • Participate in and contributes to all HSE efforts, including but not limited to risk assessments and Contractor Management

  • Lead and/ or actively participate in Contractor Safety meetings and other activities to deliver a consistent message on ConocoPhillips’ commitment to safety

  • Ensure warehouse facilities and asset recovery yards meet warehouse Safety and Security Program requirements

  • Take ownership of incidents and, where required, lead incident investigation

  • Coach, mentor and cross-train all key stakeholders to implement and improve on safe, efficient work processes related to materials management

  • Collaborate with integrated partners and other Operations team members to ensure an integrated approach to Production Operations

  • Manage staff through individual performance management process and system

  • Coaching and mentoring all Warehouse staff, building an effective and efficient team environment

  • Ensure materials at the Oil Sands warehousing facilities are organized, controlled and replenished per established standards, leveraging SAP functionality

  • Oversee day to day material processes including; reservations, kitting, staging, repairs, reconciliations, returns, surplus and cycle counting.

  • Support Asset Recovery for Surmont on behalf of the Corporate Asset Recovery program

  • Provide support to Operations and Maintenance as it relates to the management of rental equipment

  • Act as liaison between Oil Sands Supply Chain Management and central Supply Chain groups.

  • Work with the Procurement staff to ensure accurate and timely replenishment of inventory and repairs, to include surplus disposition

  • Oversee the Quality Management Process to ensure compliance and material technical requirements.

  • Actively participate in daily Mechanical tailgate and Production Operations meetings.

  • Lead regular shift meetings with staff to ensure timeliness of corporate communications.

  • Participate in regular Supply Chain Management leadership meetings.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve MRP inventory errors and coordination / delivery issues of staged materials, material returns, surplus, etc.

  • Work with local consumable suppliers to ensure consumable or VMIrequirements are met

  • Collectively work with stakeholders in support of shutdown events and projects, including attending planning meetings.

  • Responsible for the Warehouse Security Plan

  • Lead and promote a disciplined culture as it relates to the accuracy and management of the Preventive Maintenance Master Data

  • Maintain an active member role in the Materials Management Network of Excellence, providing support, asking and answering questions and participating in discussion

  • Actively participate in Knowledge Sharing; leverage best practices and lessons learned, and capture success stories


Required Qualifications

  • Degree in applicable business/ trade related application

  • 5 years of proven ability to successfully lead a team

  • 10 years of experience in all areas of materials management, warehouse management, plant operations and maintenance, or combination of both degree/experience

  • Strong commitment to safety

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work in SAP

  • Works well in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen to include conceptualization and practical working knowledge of Materials Management and Logistics

  • Experience in Warehouse moves and/or expansions

  • Experience in managing multiple locations/business units in parallel

  • Strong material commodities knowledge applicable to Oil and Gas facilities

  • Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks

  • Experience in use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP, MS Office)
