ConocoPhillips Canada is recruiting for a Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Engineer. The RBI Engineer will assume the role of local technical subject matter expert for the Risk Based Inspection program for the Canadian Business Unit. This will include leading the evergreening tasks of performing reassessments, maintaining and troubleshooting the RBI software (PCMS), creating inspection plans and monitoring the overall health of the program. The RBI Engineer will be required to provide support to site on all RBI related inspections and on all new RBI implementation projects. The RBI Engineer will also scope and maintain the time-based inspection program and constantly evaluate updates and improvements to both programs.

This is a Calgary-based role on a 5/2 schedule.
Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
Provide assistance on corrosion investigations
Develop inspection plans for pressure equipment and piping
Maintain the Asset Integrity database (PCMS)
Ensure Key Performance Indicators are integrated into Spotfire for real time monitoring
Provide field training if required for RBI, PCMS, time-based inspection, etc.
Review anomalies, loss of containment to identify continuous improvement and cost savings opportunities.
Participate in HAZOPs, MOCs as required
Coordinate with site personnel, facility engineers, and outside vendors to identify potential cost saving opportunities
Provide support with incorporating new equipment into the RBI program
Participate in MOCs and HAZOPs as required during construction phase.
Document key operational learnings.
Provide support on RBI implementation during CAPEX projects to ensure all RBI requirements are accounted for.
Become the RBI focal point during operations/evergreening phase.
Confirm that the RBI program is regularly updated and monitored by ensuring that inspection results, MOCs, new damage mechanisms, system excursions, etc. are continuously fed back into the program.
Work with Data Technician and other AI personnel to ensure that PCMS is up to date.
Provide support with implementing IOWs and ensuring that any excursions have been reviewed, closed and fed back to the RBI program.
Work with Ops, FEs, Site AI, Process Safety to understand any process upsets that can change the RBI assumptions.
Update the RBI PEIMS and all related program documents and support regulatory audits as required.
Attend industry conferences and if applicable submit posters/presentations.
Identify improvements and cost savings opportunities through new technologies
Strong knowledge of RBI through API 580/581 and AB-505
Strong PCMS skills
Strong PC skills (MS Office, SAP, Spotfire, Meridium etc)
Strong Excel VBA and SQL server skills
Knowledge of field operations in SAGD and conventional gas assets
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in the execution of their duties.
Knowledge of new construction codes and standards.
Knowledge of local jurisdictional requirements.
Knowledge of corrosion mechanism and mitigation techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A self-starter, willing to work independently and across organizational boundaries.
Detail orientated and committed to constant improvement.
Strong commitment to safety and support of CPC core values
Registered with APEGA as a member-in-training, eligible for professional registration in the next year (P Eng. or P.L. Eng.) or ASET (P Tech Eng.) within the discipline of Mechanical, Welding or Corrosion.
Min. 5 years of experience in the oil and gas sector mainly in pressure equipment, piping design/construction, inspection, and other asset integrity aspects.
Experience in RBI Program Design, Implementation and Evergreening
Minimum Certification in API 510 and API 580
Subject Matter Expert in PCMS including the RBI module
ABSA In-service Pressure Equipment Inspector Certification would be an asset
Legally authorized to work in Canada on a permanent basis
