Description

ConocoPhillipsCanada is looking for a rotating equipment engineer to support our two keyassets, Surmont and Montney. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead theRotating Equipment Engineer is accountable to provide technical expertise forrotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbomachinery, blowers, etc.) insupport of many facets of the organization including Development, CapitalProjects and the Surmont and Montney Operations teams. The Rotating Equipment Engineer isresponsible to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, fit for purpose,innovative and cost-effective designs, through influencing and working withother technical personnel through all phases of the project life cycle,execution, start up and continuous operations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, support andadhere to ConocoPhillips Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) managementsystem. Ensure that HSE & processsafety issues are given priority consideration in all activities.

  • Influence decisions related to rotating equipment in support of all phases of a project life cycle including FEL-0 through FEL-3, execution & start-up work being managed by the Capital Projects organization. This includes providing direction in the development and review of PFD’s, P&ID’s, and other project related documents such as Scope of Work and Basis of Design documents as related to rotating equipment.

  • Provide rotating equipment expertise in HAZOP, LOPA, risk and SIL reviews, peer reviews, root cause analysis (RCA).

  • Oversee and influence various studies, projects and initiatives related to rotating equipment.

  • Provide direction, oversight and review of management of change (MOC) projects applicable to rotating equipment for both Surmont and Montney operations.

  • Provide expert knowledge in the field of rotating equipment in support of plant and field operations & maintenance personnel including troubleshooting, conducting field tests, developing reports, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency or productivity.

  • Influence the development of operation, maintenance and start-up philosophies related to rotating equipment.

  • Act as the Technical Authority (TA) for rotating equipment related Specifications and Standards.

  • Own and assume accountability for facility rotating equipment engineering data e.g. data sheets, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, etc.

  • Drive consistency and a fit for purpose approach for rotating equipment Specifications and Standards, philosophies and operating requirements across both the Surmont and Montney assets.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for Specifications and Standards and other documents related to rotating equipment.

  • EnsureConocoPhillips Canada Engineering and Safety Standards are adhered to in allphases of the project and in current operations.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Recognized Bachelor’s degree inEngineering from an accredited university.

  • 15 years’ experience of MechanicalEngineering in oil and gas industry.

  • 7 years’ operation / projectexperience.

  • Registered or eligible for registrationwith APEGA & EGBC.

  • Working knowledge of Canadian andapplicable industry Codes, Standards and regulations.

  • Ability to travel periodically to theMontney and Surmont field sites.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada ona full-time basis without restrictions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to safety and supportof CPC core values.

  • Strong verbal and written communicationskills and ability to collaborate & build consensus in a multidisciplineteam.

  • Ability to work within a diversecultural environment.

  • Solid understanding of ConocoPhillipsCPMS system and FEL process an asset.

  • Good understanding of SAGD operations& gas plant configurations such as amine plant, refrigeration,stabilization, C3 recovery an asset.

  • Strong PC skills (such as MS Word, Excel,PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Development of and revision to rotatingequipment & related standards and specifications an asset.

  • Able to establish and manage prioritieswhile maintaining accountability & commitments.
