As a Purchasing Analyst, you will effectively ensure that materials and services are sourced and purchased in a manner that meets the expectations of a broad North American constituent base. You will have functional responsibility for the acquisition of materials and services for an assigned group of categories and suppliers using a standardized procurement process that meets business needs while adhering to Corporate standards and mitigating financial and liability risks.

This position can sit in either Houston, Texas or Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supply Chain Management (SCM): Purchase and make decisions that result in the optimal cost of ownership for materials and services, including:

  • Adherence to the GST Standard Purchasing Process

  • Create purchase orders and work with expediting team to administer the lifecycle of a purchase order from requisition receipt to supplier payment

  • Select an appropriate source of supply

  • Determine the correct price that should be paid

  • Lead request for proposal (RFP) sourcing events

  • Effectively communicate with suppliers and client groups

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned purchasing categories

  • Review and concur authority for purchases up to $100,000

  • R2P: Represent and advocate on behalf of GST regarding the optimal execution of the Requisition-to-Pay (R2P) process

  • Teamwork: Function as a key member of one of the GST Purchasing Teams

  • Cost Control/Value Creation: Guide and direct client groups on how to effectively transact business with the GST buying team

  • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers to facilitate supplier performance in support of operations

  • Compliance: Ensure all SCM services are conducted as per ConocoPhillips Supply Chain Policy, including all accurate documentation, use of systems, approvals and communications



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • 3 years of experience in purchasing or a related field

  • Intermediate proficiency with SAP

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a Business, Supply Chain or related discipline or foreign equivalent

  • Advanced proficiency with SAP

  • 3 years of experience related to the oil and gas industry

  • 5 years of experience in purchasing or related field

  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to understand end-to-end purchasing processes and where value is created

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Internal and external networking skills

  • Ability to work with other functions; understand their business needs to effectively translate them into purchasing activity

  • Action oriented with proven analytical skills, and the ability to craft solutions to complex issues

  • Able to find opportunities to improve processes, and propose paths to address them

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines
