As a key member of the Business Unit Integrated Operations Team the position will support Integrated Operations by servicing data integration needs to create a best-in-class integrated data environment across the L48 GCBU IO analytics and application landscape in support of data-driven business decisions. The position will be reporting to the Supervisor of GCBU Integrated Operations Support with a primary focus on delivering sustainable data flows across applications and analytics landscapes as a lead developer as well as an individual contributor. To drive business value, a secondary focus will be on exploitation of integrated data assets contributing as a data analyst on key IO projects across multiple asset workflows and domains.

Responsibilities may include:

In primary capacity, as a data integration architect:

  • Develop and maintain expertise in implementing solutions to integrate data across applications, data stores, analytics platforms, and middleware technologies using strategic integration toolsets

  • Design and create data integration architectures and technology roadmaps which defines how GCBU IO data will be integrated, stored, consumed, and managed by different data systems, applications, analytics, reporting tools, or for operational uses in conjunction with asset Data Architect

  • Define data integration and data migration procedures and/or processes in compliance with and contributing toward governance documentation

  • Drive the organization’s data integration best practices and standards across solutions and team to build a holistic and unified data integration solution portfolio

  • Maintain an enterprise perspective of data integration, data quality, data integration patterns, and skills with relevant strategic technical toolsets and identify/review available technologies that would aid in improving data management processes

  • Implement performance enhancements and tuning for load and retrieval of data. This should include indexing, partitioning and views; reporting environment implementation; and propagating data to other systems

  • Build understanding of the business needs and be able to document data integration mappings on the process, quality of the data, anticipated values and any other technical notes required for data integration projects

  • Manage the scheduling and support of data integration jobs; Analysis of defects/failures; Impact analysis of source changes

  • Manage functional and integration testing of various data integrations and database components; document test cases/scenarios

  • Cultivate knowledge of the technical rules required by standard oil and gas industry data models including PPDM

  • Develop logical and/or physical data models to support organization initiatives

  • Collaboration with the business, its applications, solutions and with other data integrators and governance teams to understand the implications of respective architectures and to maximize the value of information across the organization

  • Facilitate the asset Data Architect to set direction of the GCBU IO Data Integration Strategy, Analytics, and future state of Data Architecture

In secondary capacity, as a data analyst:

  • Develop and tune integrated datasets in support of operational workflow and analytics needs required by various IO initiatives across IDW, ERP, and other applications

  • Provide technical support around data and information assets; supporting data management project implementations, data integrations, data reporting, data loading and quality control processing in various database management systems (SQL, Oracle, Teradata, Hive)

  • Cultivate understanding of business processes and priorities to consolidate and present data from various sources for business decisions

  • Ensure that data quality is known and tracked by identifying duplicates, missing data, or anomalies

  • Technical understanding of the metadata management solutions to leverage in discovery

  • Cultivate knowledge of standard oil and gas industry business rules across data domains and knowledge of asset-specific business processes and datasets

  • Ensure data adheres to approved standards and is accessible according to data security policies including ConocoPhillips Information Security Policies

  • Understanding and complying with organizational data security policies including backup and recovery processes



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

  • 10 years of experience in delivering enterprise architectural integration patterns for data warehouses and data hubs

  • 10 years of data integration and data management experience

  • 10 years of advanced SQL experience including complex database functions

  • 7 years of Informatica PowerCenter experience

  • 7 years of Upstream oil and gas industry experience delivering data assets in support of analytics efforts

  • 5 years of application integration experience

  • 5 years of Linux/Unix platform and scripting experience

  • 5 years of Teradata database platform experience

  • 5 years of Oracle database platform experience

  • 5 years of data modeling experience with Public Petroleum Data Model (PPDM)
