Position Summary

The Commercial Gas Activities Analyst Intern will provide contract management support for the Commercial Gas Activities organization.

The work will develop you technically and professionally. A Commercial Analyst employee within the Commercial Gas Activities organization will be assigned to you as a mentor. You will also be assigned a “buddy” to assist your transition into ConocoPhillips' corporate environment.

Assignments are typically located in our Houston, TX office. The length of our internships varies from 10 to 14 weeks based on the project and your availability.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Administering gas gathering, transportation and processing contracts

  • Research, reporting and analysis on existing contracts based on requests from contract advisors or management

  • Provide input for strategic planning during contract negotiations

  • Providing research and contract administration support for acquisitions and dispositions

  • Partner with contract administration contacts for litigation and regulatory compliance research

  • Maintaining and updating contract administration process maps and training manuals

  • Ensuring that all rights/obligations are set up in the system and reported in a timely manner to assure appropriate decisions/actions are taken

  • Understanding and applying records retention policy for L48 contracts

  • Occasional administrative duties for Gas Activities will be required

  • Research and analysis on operated and non-operated wells for Wellhead Scheduling and Imbalance Team

  • As required facilitate conversations amongst and between internal and external business partners

  • Researching and mapping contract dedications and obligations to 3rd parties or midstream companies

Land Management Overview

We are the largest owner in the U.S. Lower 48 with 10.4 million net acres, much of it held by production that gives access to scalable, low-cost-of-supply inventory that can generate substantial future production growth. We also operate significant oil producing assets in Alaska and Canada.

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee and will not need sponsorship now or in the future

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, Energy Management, Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Economics or other related discipline or foreign equivalent

  • Current level in college: Freshman through Senior or Graduate Student

  • Expected graduation date: Fall 2021 through Spring 2024

  • A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship

Preferred:

  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Previous internships or co-ops in an energy related field

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Quorum Land Suite and SAP experience

  • Experience with contracts or demonstrating the ability to gather and analyze data

  • Ability to generate effective solutions based on available information and make timely decisions that are safe and ethical

  • Ability to adapt and respond resourcefully, flexibly, and positively when faced with new challenges and demands

  • Strong focus on being a team player

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
