Description

The Permian asset team is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Petrophysicist in the Permian Reservoir Performance group. If selected, you will support ConocoPhillips' Delaware Assets.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Set a visible example in Safety Leadership Behaviors

  • Participate in an unconventional multi-disciplinary team that performs subsurface technical evaluations to determine potential in the Delaware asset

  • Provide landing target guidance and selection

  • Develop and maintain a Petrophysical model, honoring existing and future data from all subsurface disciplines

  • Lead the data acquisition plans on wells to be drilled, along with managing the log and core database

  • Liaise with core analysis companies and in-house experts, to make sure core procedures and laboratory analyses are being executed according to ConocoPhillips’ standards and are completed with the highest amount of accuracy and control

  • Display strong organizational skills that will allow interpretations and assessments to be available for presentation by all asset team members

  • Knowledge Sharing with Resource Characterization team, Implementation teams, Global Unconventional team and other BU’s with unconventional resources to efficiently transfer information as the program matures

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Petrophysics, Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or Physics or foreign equivalent

  • 5 years of experience in logging technology, including log acquisition, processing, and interpretation

  • 5 years of experience with Techlog, Interactive Petrophysics, or equivalent petrophysics software

  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Master’s degree, PhD or equivalent in Petrophysics, Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or Physics

  • Recent experience with evaluation of unconventional reservoirs

  • Well Operations experience

  • Initiative to work without constant supervision, displaying innovative skills in using the proper tools to effectively characterize reservoir potential

  • Deterministic and probabilistic petrophysical analyses to establish lithology, porosity, permeability and saturation models and their appropriate application to subsurface data

  • Proficiency in core analyses and core-log integration for reservoir properties

  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for shared understanding, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results

  • Consistently demonstrates high integrity, behaves ethically, and follows through on commitments

  • Ability to lead or work within a technical team

  • Strong integration skills with other subsurface disciplines

  • ​Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical

  • Understands how key financial and quantitative indicators impact the business

  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
