Three of these blocks are non-operated and located off the eastern Malaysian state of Sabah: Block G, Block J and the Kebabangan (KBB) Cluster. Three other exp loration blocks, Block SK304, Block SK313 and Block WL4-00 are operated by ConocoPhillips and are located off the eastern Malaysian state of Sarawak.

Basic Purpose/Accountabilities:

The Commercial Negotiator will be responsible for supporting upstream, operated and non-operated commercial, economics, and business development activities in Malaysia. This position will be responsible for protecting ConocoPhillips’ investments in numerous ongoing Sabah and Sarawak oil and fields and ensuring that all commercial arrangements create maximum value for ConocoPhillips. The position will require interaction with PETRONAS and upstream joint venture partners as well as internal stakeholders within ConocoPhillips.

Candidates for this position must be Malaysian citizens.

Job Requirement

  • Represent ConocoPhillips in commercial meetings and contract negotiations

  • Provide support and analysis to ConocoPhillips crude marketers to plan liftings and avoid distressed cargoes

  • Dedicate 25% of time to perform detailed economic investment appraisal analysis on one or more assets

  • Participate in commercial activities and management of existing contracts, and data, relating to ConocoPhillips’ oil and gas fields offshore Sabah and Sarawak

  • Leverage existing contractual positions to protect COP investments in Malaysia

  • Actively pursue additional opportunities to monetize COP oil and gas production

  • Develop and manage strong working relationships with PETRONAS, PETRONAS Carigali and other IOCs

  • Coordinate with appropriate internal functions to ensure alignment on all commercial matters

  • Shared accountability for building annual LRP for Malaysia BU and Field/Area Development Plans.

  • Develop effective relationships with internal functions within ConocoPhillips

  • Perform related duties as required


Job Specifications:

  • Degreein Business Administration, Engineering, or Finance

  • Understandingof upstream commercial contracts (PSC, JOA, UUOA, GSA, etc.)

  • Experiencedrafting, negotiating, and implementing commercial agreements relating to gassales, facilities sharing, transportation and processing

  • Demonstratedability to participate in and coordinate multi-discipline teams to support commercialnegotiations

  • Fundamentalunderstanding and experience with economic analysis

  • Teamwork and influence skills to workeffectively with PETRONAS and joint venture partners

  • Creative thinker with strong businessacumen

  • Excellentwritten and communication skills in the English language

  • Proficientwith Microsoft Excel and Power Point

  • High safety, environmental and ethical standards
