The Role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Operations Technician with experience in the LNG or a complex processing industry to join our Operations Team at Darwin LNG.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the plant and equipment in accordance with HSE and Operating Policies & Procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitoring, reporting and managing all operations activity within area and scope of responsibility

  • Contributes to the achievement of exceeding facility and shift safety and environmental objectives

  • Ensures teamwork, and the Darwin LNG values and culture, are promoted and supported by being team players in and outside the immediate operations areas.

  • Plays an active role in Emergency Response

  • Ensures skills and knowledge are maintained at the highest level by successfully completing the On-The-Job Training and re-certification programs and assisting in the training of others

  • Ensures active participation in the on and off shift continuous improvement initiatives. Ensures the knowledge base is continuously improved by reviewing and updating operating and maintenance procedures as necessary

  • Ensures the plant is effectively maintained to achieve optimum continuous performance by completing maintenance tasks within the skill envelope

  • A minimum 5 years in an operations role in Oil and Gas production/processing industry or significant relevant experience in a related heavy/complex processing industry

  • Experience or knowledge in the use of DCS and ESD Systems

  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s and PFD’s

  • Experience with the use of a computerised management system

  • Full Australian working rights


  • LNG operations experience

  • Certificate II to IV Process Plant Operations

  • SAP experience

The Location

This unique permanent employment opportunity is based in Darwin, Northern Territory. The Darwin LNG work site is approximately a 40 minute drive from the Darwin CBD and just 20 minutes from many major residential suburbs. Darwin LNG operates with a fully residential operations workforce, offering an attractive day/night rotating shift roster.

  • The roster is made up of 4 and 5 day swings, ensuring your rostered days off include two weekends each month
