ConocoPhillips' Teesside operation is a world scale business venture processing over 400,000 barrels of crude oil each day from the Norwegian and UK sectors of the North Sea. The business fractionates unstabilised crude and associated natural gas liquids into stabilised crude, ethane, propane and two types of butane. These products are processed through extensive systems comprising of piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and process equipment before being held in bulk storage and exported via pipeline to local markets and sea going vessels to markets around the world.

Facilities comprise crude oil processing, NGL processing and storage, and ship loading facilities, on a 307-acre site at Seal Sands on the Tees Estuary in NE England. Stabilised oil is stored in a 375-acre tank farm at Greatham. A two-mile corridor containing pipelines, communications and utility services links the two sites.
