The Bakken is a large shale play located in the Williston Basin, which stretches across portions of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. The Bakken is one of the company’s three key growth areas within its Lower 48 business unit, with a development area covering approximately 630,000 net acres at the end of 2017. The company’s activities focus on unconventional tight oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin. Operational and capital efficiencies continue to improve in the basin through the use of multi-well pad drilling, completion optimization, facility design changes and data analytics. In 2017, net production from the Bakken averaged 65 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The Operating Integrity (OI) Lead’s primary responsibility will be to mentor and train field staff. The OI Lead will be expected to spend 70% of their time in the field conducting hands-on training with multi-skill operators (MSOs), specialists, and completing competency assessments. The position will also work with the production supervisors, and engineers to update/develop standard operating guidelines (SOG) for the Bakken Asset. This position will report to the Bakken Operating Integrity Superintendent and will play a key role in improving safe and efficient working practices.
Responsibilities may include:
Owner of the MSO Competency Program, conducting assessments, providing feedback to the supervisors and MSOs, as well as reporting on progress of the workforce monthly to the production supervisors.
Lockout /Tagout (LOTO) training including field verification of existing procedures, standard operating guidelines (SOG/SOP), facility operating guidelines (FOG), and lease inspections as well as reviewing and updating to ensure they are fit for purpose
Work with engineering to ensure new design and equipment procedures are in place and training is provided to the end user
Provide baseline training on Cygnet and XSPOC. Train operations personnel to ensure reliable data is gathered for use in production and loss reporting systems
Work with training groups/coordinator and production supervisors to improve training curriculum for MSO’s
Assisting with the interview process for operations-based positions in the Bakken
Supporting development and implementation of training materials on human performance, and learning organization initiatives to drive a high reliability organization
Review and analyze well pad process performance on a regular basis and identify de-bottlenecking and well site optimization improvement in areas such as routine operation maintenance
Assist in continuous improvement of the operation by exception (OBX) process by working closely with operations to refine the model
Legally authorized to work in the United States
10 years of experience in oil and gas operations
Valid driver’s license
3 years supervisory or lead experience
Proven leadership in promoting safe work practices
Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Cygnet, XSPOC, SAP
